The Rise at Berkeley, Micro Studios

Berkeley, 2023

The project, comprising 48 studio apartments, is situated one block from the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) campus on a compact 3,700-square-foot lot in downtown Berkeley. At an astonishing 570 units per acre, the project is a study in efficient urban development.

The studio units range from 350 sq. ft. to 427 sq. ft., and all furnishings are custom-designed to make the best possible use of the available space.

A landscaped rooftop garden for residents offers views of the campus to the east and towards the San Francisco Bay to the west.

The building sets a new standard for high-density housing development in the downtown area. The building is being designed to LEED Gold standards.
